Welcome to our site!

This site is for all members of Troop 149 and anyone interested in joining our Troop. We welcome any boys who are interested in becoming a boy scout.

The Troop meets every Tuesday at 7:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church at 180 Park Ave in Windsor, CT.

Troop 149 is the oldest Troop in the Oldest Town. The Troop is proud of it's long history in Connecticut's oldest town. Since 1948 Troop 149 has been active in town.

A Word from the Scoutmaster

Imagine opportunities and adventures.

Imagine learning new skills, meeting new friends, and enjoying the outdoors.

All of these and much more are a part of Scouting today. At Troop #149, our program is designed and carried out by our members themselves. What our Scouts want becomes what we strive to make happen. Our program includes camping and outdoor activities every month, troop meetings every week, troop swims, week-long summer camp, an annual highlight trip (recent years have been to Cape Cod, Gettysburg, Penobscot River in Maine, and Washington, DC), a service project for the Windsor veterans, and many special activities (for example: ski trips, sporting events, merit badge jamborees, etc.). We even have a group of older Scouts who try high adventure challenges (Appalachian Trail hikes, biking, caving, rappelling, etc.).

We have over sixty years of Scouting in Windsor, CT. In that span of time, forty seven young men have earned the right to wear the medal of Eagle Scout, and we currently have more Scouts actively working on their Eagle requirements. Many of our past Eagle Scouts are community and business leaders today. While we're very proud of our past, our future is even more exciting. And we want you to be a part of it.

If you’re 11 or older and you're thinking about joining, just stop by any Tuesday night and I'll explain the whole program. You have little to loose - and a LOT to gain. If you're already a member, hang on to your hat! The program you've set out and the highlight trip will make this a year to remember!

Boy Scouting at Troop #149 isn't just about wearing uniforms and doing good deeds. It's also about values, friendships, personal challenges, and most importantly, fun.

Give us a try.

Yours in Scouting,
Kevin J. Walsh
